Samsung starts rolling out Android Pie for the Galaxy J4/J4+, Galaxy J6+
Traditionally, Samsung had been among the laggards in terms of the latest software update. But over the last one year, the situation has improved a lot and Samsung has been pushing the latest One UI update based on Android 9.0 Pie to not only its flagships but also some mid-range devices. Now, three more Samsung smartphones from the budget and the mid-range segments are getting a taste of Pie. With the One UI update, the Samsung Galaxy J4/J4+ and Galaxy J6 will get improvements to the user experience, notifications, Samsung Keyboard, Bixby, as well as the overall performance.
In case of each of the smartphone, the update weighs around 1200MB, which feel justified considering that the update brings a whole new visual experience compared to the earlier Samsung Experience UI. Among the major changes, the interactive elements are moved to the bottom half of the screen so that users do not have to struggle while using their Samsung smartphones with a single hand. Besides this shake-up, items in Settings have also been reorganized for more intuitive usage.
Additionally, the update brings a simplified way to quickly reply to all notifications directly from the notifications shade. Images from the incoming notifications are also visible in the form of thumbnails. Besides, there are some changes to the Samsung Keyboard, which can now be undocked from the bottom and used in a floating mode. Further, the keyboard also supports an adaptive theme which modifies the color of the keyboard according to the UI elements surrounding it.
As of now, the One UI update based on Android 9.0 Pie is available for:
- Galaxy J4 in Panama,
- Galaxy J4+ in Thailand, Vietnam, and Ukraine, and
- Galaxy J6+ in Germany, India, and Iraq.
We’ll update you when these updates are available for the above-mentioned devices in other regions as well. If your device is eligible for an update, go to Settings>Software Update.
