Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 stars in hands-on video ahead of launch

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 series has often been in the rumor mill lately, revealing most of its key specs. The smartwatch is expected to debut on August 5 alongside the Note20 series, Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Tab S7 series. Now we have our first hands-on video of the unreleased wearable which gives us a detailed look at its appearance, software and key features. The 41mm version of the Watch 3 comes with a 1.2 inch AMOLED display, 8GB storage and Tizen OS 5.5. OnePlus 6 mod enables 70Hz screen refresh rate for smoother browsing

One of the hottest trends of 2019 and upcoming 2020 devices is high refresh rate displays. While Sharp had been playing around with such displays for a long time, Razer was the first OEM to put out a phone with a 120Hz LCD display in the western market. It didn’t immediately catch on, but other OEMs started slowly playing around with it, including ASUS. OnePlus was responsible for reviving the concept again with the OnePlus 7 Pro and its 90Hz AMOLED display , and ASUS released the ROG Phone II with a first-of-its-kind 120Hz AMOLED display. Since it was discovered that the Xiaomi Mi 9’s display could be overclocked to 84Hz , though, modders started digging around other devices to try to overclock their displays. Alongside the release of Android 8.0 Oreo, Google unveiled Project Treble : a major rearchitecting in the way the Android OS framework and the vendor HALs and Linux kernel communicate. Treble is a major initiative designed to reduce Android platform version and security patch fragmentation , and all Android-branded devices launching with Android Pie are required to support Project Treble. OEMs and vendors test Treble compatibility by booting a Generic System Image (GSI)—a pure stock build of Android from AOSP—and passing the Vendor Test Suite (VTS) and Compatibility Test Suite-on-Generic System Image (CTS-on-GSI). The GSI has proven useful in not only allowing software engineers working for OEMs test Treble compatibility, but it has also opened the door for a large custom ROM community on XDA.
