OPPO Reno2 with 48MP quad cameras, 5X hybrid zoom, shark fin rising design launches in India alongside Reno2Z and Reno2F

OPPO introduced the camera-centric Reno series, comprising the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom and the Reno Standard editions, earlier this year. As evident from the name, the Reno 10X Zoom focussed on the zooming abilities of the smartphone – it features a periscopic 5X optical zoom module with the ability to zoom up to 50X digitally. Four months later, OPPO is taking the stage again today and launching the second generation of the Reno series – including the OPPO Reno2, Reno2Z, and the Reno2F. All of these smartphones feature 48MP quad rear cameras, up to 20X digital zoom, and up to 8GB RAM.

The OPPO Reno2 comes with features like Ultra Dark Mode, which according to OPPO, can be used to capture images when the amount of ambient light is less than 5 lux. The OPPO Reno2 lacks a dedicated periscopic module such as the one the first-gen Reno but the telephoto sensor supports 5X hybrid zoom with a total of 20X digital zoom. Additionally, the Reno2 gets portrait and Ultra Macro modes and the onboard OIS allows for shake-free videos at 4K resolution.

The OPPO Reno2 comes with the same shark fin design as the Reno first-gen. This is to ensure that the 6.55-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED offers an unnotched viewing experience. Internally, the OPPO Reno2 comes with a Snapdragon 730G paired with up to 8GB RAM.

The OPPO Reno2Z and the Reno2F are stripped down variants of the Reno2 and feature pop-up cameras and MediaTek chipsets. These have slightly smaller displays and lack telephoto sensors.
