Update (8/12/19 @ 9:55 AM ET): The LG X2 and Samsung Galaxy A10s have now been officially announced.

Device leaks are a good source of information about upcoming phones from OEMs, but you can also learn a lot about unreleased devices through sources such as the Google Play Console Device Catalog and the Android Enterprise Recommended website. Thanks to these sources, we now have information about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A10s and the LG X2 2019 ahead of their launch.

Samsung Galaxy A10s

Samsung Galaxy A10s

The Samsung Galaxy A10s recently passed through the FCC, indicating that the device will also see a likely release in the USA. The FCC documentation for the phone reveals a dimension of 157 x 75.8 mm, and a decently sized 3,900 mAh battery. The listings from the websites mentioned above reveal other key specifications for the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy A10s will come with a 6.2″ HD+ display of 1520 x 720 resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The phone will be powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) SoC, coupled with at least 2GB RAM and 32GB storage, though there could be other higher options available for RAM and storage. The phone will also have a waterdrop notch and thin bezels. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the device, but because of its budget nature, we expect that this will be a conventional fingerprint sensor on the rear instead of an in-display sensor. There will be no NFC on the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy A10s will launch with Android 9 Pie, likely with Samsung’s UX on top. Sammobile reports that the phone will likely launch in India as early as next week, for a starting price of ₹8,990 (~$130). Samsung had originally planned to consolidate and simplify its phone lineups, because of which they had discontinued the J-series and the On-series. But with the launch of the M-series and now further launches within the A-series in the form of “S” releases, we are back to square one. The end consumer is unlikely to have an easy time following Samsung’s frequent releases.

LG X2 2019

LG X2 2019

The LG X2 (2019) is a refresh of the LG X2 that was launched in 2018 in some regions. This is a budget device, so there aren’t too many exciting specifications to drool over here. The LG X2 2019 will come with a 5.5″ 1440 x 720 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, at least 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. While this phone gains NFC support, it skips out on a fingerprint scanner. The phone will launch with Android 9 Pie, but with LG’s UX on top.

Update 1: Official

After both devices were leaked in late July, the LG X2 and Samsung Galaxy A10s have been announced. The LG X2 (2019) was unveiled a few days ago in Korea. It has a 5.45-inch 1440 x 720 display, Snapdragon 425 SoC, 13MP camera, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 3,000 mAh battery, and Android Pie. It costs 198,000 won ($162).

Earlier today, the Galaxy A10s was announced. It has dual cameras (13MP + 2MP), a 6.2-inch 1520 x 720 display, Octa-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 4,000 mAh battery, and Android Pie. Samsung did not share pricing or availability information at this time.
