Pixel 4’s Motion Sense Reported to Only Support Nine Apps at Launch

Pixel 4 Bro

When the Pixel 4 launches, it’s reported that there is a short list of media apps that can be controlled by Motion Sense, which is the Soli radar-powered gesture system found in phone’s top bezel. Ahead of this list’s publishing, we assumed Motion Sense would work in a ton of different apps, but as you’ll see, that’s not the case.

Instead of being able to control any sort of notification controls you’d see from media apps, like the kind that can be controlled via a Bluetooth headset, Motion Sense is limited to controlling just nine apps.

Motion Sense supported apps at launch:

  • Amazon Music
  • Deezer
  • Google Play Music
  • iHeartRadio
  • Pandora
  • Spotify
  • Spotify Stations
  • YouTube Music
  • YouTube

Mind you, the above media apps are likely the most popular you can currently find available for Android.

However, our hope is that this list expands soon after launch, but not only for media apps. When we published a list of ideas Google could lift to implement into Soli, we weren’t kidding. We want Chrome scrolling, camera mode switching, plus a bunch of other stuff. Point being, Soli isn’t worth it if all we can do is skip music tracks in nine different apps.
