Samsung Galaxy A70s with 64MP triple cameras, Super AMOLED display launches in India for ₹28,999 ($410)

Samsung has been polishing its mid-range lineup with mid-year upgrades to existing devices. Earlier this month, Samsung launched the Galaxy A50s and A30s followed by the Galaxy M30s as well as the M10s. The upgrade cycle does not appear to be ending anytime soon and today, Samsung has launched the Galaxy A70s with a 64MP primary camera compared to the 32MP sensor on the older Galaxy A70.

Samsung is using its own 64MP ISOCELL GW1 Bright sensor on the Galaxy A70s and this is the same sensor as the Realme XT/X2 and the Redmi Note 8. The 64MP sensor has the highest resolution among Samsung’s 0.8μm-pixel-size lineup. For sharper imaging and bright photography in low light, the sensor supports 4-in-1 pixel binning technology to capture 16MP images. While more megapixels don’t equate to better photography, the Samsung GW1 sensor is expectedly larger than the 48MP ISOCELL GM1, and is thus expected to be better and we saw a similar trend in our Realme XT camera review. The phone also comes with a Super Steady Video mode, which is a fancy moniker for EIS.

Besides the new camera module, the Samsung Galaxy A70s gets a new prism-cut design on the back, similar to the new Galaxy A50s and the A30s. These backs are available in interesting Prism Crush Red, Prism Crush White, and Prism Crush Black color options. Other than that, all of the features remain the same as the previous generation.

Against the common practice of using Exynos chipsets on its smartphones, Samsung has powered the Galaxy A70s with a Snapdragon 675 chipset. This is complemented by 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Additionally, there 128GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 512GB. The 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display remains unchanged as well and so does the 4,500mAh battery with 25W support. The display also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner as earlier.

Another feature of the Samsung Galaxy A70s that remains unchanged over the A70 is its pricing in India. The 6GB+128GB variant is priced at ₹28,999 (~$410) in India while the 8GB+128GB variant comes for ₹30,999 (~$440) in India. The Galaxy A70s will be available starting tomorrow online through Flipkart, Amazon, and Samsung’s e-Shop as well as offline at Samsung Opera House and other leading retail chains.
