Snapchat’s redesigned, faster Android app will roll out by the end the year

Snapchat is one of those applications which, without a doubt, runs much better on the iOS platform. The reasoning behind this has been unknown for many years, as Android’s market share and developer communities are obviously much larger than Apple’s. But, after years of begging and complaining, Snapchat finally decided to change the situation for the better. They announced a redesign of Snapchat’s Android application in 2017. Up until now, we didn’t have a clear release date, or at least an estimated timeframe. We just got a word about that, thanks to a CNBC report.

Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snap, announced that the redesigned version of Snapchat will be available by the end of the year. He believes that the “rebuilt Android app will be key to Snap’s international growth.” That’s a bold statement, but considering that Snap has been losing a lot of users from the Android ecosystem, he might as well be very right. The new, more fluid and faster version of the application will definitely drive more users who have been drifting away from the drastic experience of Snapchat on Android.

Realizing that improving the Android version of the app is a smart business decision which will benefit the owners and users of the application alike. This redesigned version of Snapchat has been in alpha for quite some time now. Some users actually received it already. Last year, we disclosed a way of enabling it, so that anyone could try the upcoming version of the app. We also have a full hands-on of the redesign. The OnePlus 8T announced last week is now available for purchase in the US through OnePlus' online store with two color options - Lunar Silver and Aquamarine Green.
