Realme 3 Pro update brings 240fps slow motion, new swipe gesture, Theme Store, and more

Realme has been relentlessly been rolling out software updates to its smartphones and updating them to Color OS 6 based on Android Pie. The Realme 3 Pro, which sits on the top of its product line, came with Android Pie out-of-the-box but the company has been pushing monthly updates to ensure that the buyers feel rewarded for their purchase. The Realme 3 Pro is getting another major update which several new features including new navigation gestures, 240fps slo-mo mode, a lockscreen magazine, June’s security patches, and much more.

The changelog for the update is:

  • System
    • Android Security Patch Level: June 5th, 2019
    • Add swipe gestures from both sides in navigation mode
    • Add lock screen magazine function(some regions)
    • Add realme account function(some regions)
    • Fix some bugs
  • APP
    • Add app market(some regions)
    • Add theme store(some regions)
    • Add game center(some regions)
  • Camera
    • Add 240fps slow motion function

With the update, the Realme 3 Pro is also getting newer system apps which were recently added to other Realme smartphones with the Color OS 6 update. These include a Theme Store where users can download entire themes, including wallpapers, icon packs, and even different unlocking gestures for the lockscreen. Additionally, the App Market is an alternative app store while the Game Center (not to be confused with Game Space for accelerated gaming) is basically an app store but just for games. While Realme’s objective behind a dedicated app store is unclear, this might be a cautionary gesture to prepare for some harsh action against Chinese companies by the U.S. government.

The navigation gesture added with the update can be seen as midway between the navigation gestures in MIUI and the ones added to Android Q beta 3. With the additional navigation option, you can swipe inwards from either the left of the right edge of the display for the back gesture. Earlier, users could choose from the split bottom bar, the tradition three-button navbar, or the two-button system introduced in Android Pie.

The OTA should be rolled out in phases but if you do not wish to wait, you can download the update package from the link below. Then go to the file manager and tap on the OZIP file and proceed to update. Piece of cake, right?
